8th Judo Japanese Ambassador’s Cup

The 8th edition of the Judo Japanese Ambassador’s Cup was successfully held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the UAE Judo Federation Arena in Abu Dhabi.

The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Ken OKANIWA, Japanese Ambassador to the UAE, along with H.E. Hiroshi HAGIWARA, President Director of INPEX Corporation Abu Dhabi; H.E. Nasser Khalifa Al Budoor, Vice Chairman of the UAE Judo Federation; Mr. Mohammed Jassim, Assistant Secretary-General of the UAE Judo Federation; and Board Member Mr. Ali Al Yamahi.

Approximately 180 Judo players participated in the competition, demonstrating outstanding skill and sportsmanship.

Individual winners were awarded prizes provided by INPEX, ASICS, and Ajinomoto, in addition to their medals.

As for the team results, the Fujairah Martial Arts Club dominated the competition, earning a total of ten medals — two gold, three silver, and five bronze. The Sharjah Club team secured second place with two gold, one silver, and six bronze medals, while the Sharjah Self-Defense Club followed closely in third with two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. Kalba Club also performed strongly, finishing in fourth place.

“Congratulations to the winners of the 8th Judo Japanese Ambassador’s Cup,” said Ambassador Ken OKANIWA. “The winners embodied the core values of judo — respect and discipline. We extend our gratitude to the UAE Judo Federation for its continued efforts in promoting Japanese martial arts."

During the event, Mr. Amro, a staff member of the Japanese Embassy, delivered a brief presentation on the spirit, origins, and development of judo, particularly its growth in the UAE. His remarks were well received by the VIPs, athletes, and audience members in attendance.
