The 11th Japan International MANGA Award
We are happy to announce that two young Emirati artists won the Bronze Award at the 11th Japan International MANGA Award with their work "Mightier." On this special occasion, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ali (comic artist) and Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al Meraikhi (story writer) were invited to the Embassy of Japan in the UAE for the Award Ceremony on July 18th. The two aspiring creators are first ever Emiratis who received this international award.
At the ceremony, the two winners were presented with certificates of commendation by Ambassador of Japan H.E. Kanji Fujiki with the attendance of Minister Kotaro Suzuki. H.E. Fujiki congratulated their great achievement and asked for continuous teamwork for creating contemporary manga which is now broadly recognized throughout the world.
The Award has been established to honor MANGA artists who contribute to the promotion of MANGA overseas. The Committee comprises the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the President of the Japan Foundation, and the members of the special committee for pop culture of the Council on the Movement of People Across Borders. Among 326 entries from 60 countries and regions, 15 works were selected at the 11th Japan International MANGA Award, including one Gold Award work, three Silver Award works, and 11 Bronze Award works.
